Direct answer

A concussion evaluation reviews the injury, symptoms, cognitive function, balance, and other clinical findings. The ImPACT Test may support that evaluation, but it does not diagnose concussion by itself.

A measured approach

Start with the reason, not the routine.

Nashville Accident & Injury Center offers concussion evaluations. When appropriate, Dr. Casey Bearden may use the ImPACT computerized assessment as one part of an individualized evaluation and interpret it alongside the history, symptoms, and examination findings.

This treatment may be discussed when you have:

  • A head impact or collision followed by new symptoms
  • Headache, dizziness, concentration, memory, or balance concerns
  • A need for a structured baseline or post-injury assessment
  • A provider recommends additional cognitive testing

How concussion evaluations & the impact test fits accident care.

Learn how this option may fit a broader accident-care process. Your provider determines candidacy after an examination.

01

A clinical evaluation comes first

A concussion evaluation considers how the injury occurred, when symptoms began, how they have changed, and whether any findings require urgent or specialist care.

02

ImPACT adds objective information

The computerized ImPACT assessment measures areas such as memory, attention, processing speed, and reaction time. It can add useful information to a baseline or post-injury assessment.

03

The test is not a stand-alone diagnosis

ImPACT is designed to aid assessment and management. Dr. Casey Bearden interprets the results alongside the history, symptoms, and clinical examination rather than using a score alone to diagnose concussion.

Concussion Evaluations & the ImPACT Test FAQ

These general answers explain how the clinic approaches this treatment and do not replace an individual examination.

What is the ImPACT Test?+

ImPACT is a computerized neurocognitive test that measures areas such as memory, attention, processing speed, and reaction time. A trained provider uses it as one part of a broader clinical evaluation.

Can the ImPACT Test diagnose a concussion?+

No. The test is not intended to make a diagnosis by itself. A provider considers the injury history, symptoms, examination, test results, and whether referral or emergency care is needed.

When should I seek emergency care?+

Call 911 or go to an emergency department for danger signs such as a worsening headache, repeated vomiting, seizure, weakness or numbness, slurred speech, increasing confusion, unequal pupils, loss of consciousness, or inability to wake.
